Oil filters

National collection system for removing and handling oil filters from garages and factories

Oil residues and heavy metals from used oil filters are liable to contaminate the ground. The Ministry of Environmental Protection acts to enforce the collection of used oil filters from car garages and transferring them to proper handling at an approved site.

Following the directives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection prohibiting disposal of used oil filters into regular garbage bins in garages and the proper handling of such waste at an approved site, Tabib provides environmental protection services for garages and gas stations.

The company placed collection bins for used oil filters at thousands of garages countrywide. These bins are collected by specially designated vehicles, which collect them on a regular basis depending on the size of garage and the number of oil filters accumulated. The full collection bins are then replaced by empty ones. The company provides the garage with a certificate indicating the waste was removed to an approved site. In addition, and in accordance with the law, Tabib also submits monthly reports to the Ministry of Environmental Protection on all garages that removed the oil filters. The company removes the filters to an approved site where they undergo a full recycling process. The facility grinds the filters to small flakes that are transferred to a centrifuge, which separates the oil, paper and metal components of the filter. The oil and metal are each recycled while the paper is burnt.
